that's exactly how i felt when i heard the tracks "(let's kiss) while all the stars are falling down" and "tonight we burn like stars that never die"
some feeling in those tracks don't exist anywhere else in music

Oblivion Hymns was the first ambient-ish album I ever listened to and honestly I've been chasing that high ever since. Everything & Nothing is probably their best album overall but the high points of OH (namely, "Like a Valley with No Echo" and "I Could Hear the Water") nearly move me to tears. I like this one more than the last two specifically because it reminds me a bit of OH.
also the band's song titles are amazing melodramatic post-rock material, 10/10

Omg yea Breathturn is gorgeous. I listened to EAN again today and man that album truly is one of their best. We Could Have Been Beautiful Again destroys me. Without Form And Void from this is becoming one of their best tracks as well.

title cut is probably my favorite here, that last string swell is just lovely

Everything and Nothing is an absolute gem, But these newer albums just sound like 45 minutes of Turn Away and Return from that album.

Without Form And Void is just incredible.

Has anyone here heard their work in the Far Cry 5 game? Damn that was good stuff. Wish they’d make a more straight forward album akin to that. I think vocals work really well in their music and they never seem to fully embrace it.

"But these newer albums just sound like 45 minutes of Turn Away and Return from that album."
You say that like it's a bad thing.

"You say that like it's a bad thing."
It's not! I love that song, but I can only listen to one song at a time from Silencia. I prefer their shoegaze style for sure, with vocals.

I get what he's saying.
This new trilogy of albums starting with Mysterium have been solid, but also predictable and kind of one note. It's their shimmery ambient orchestral side from beginning to end.
My favorite Hammock albums have that but with other styles too, like Kenotic, Raising Your Voice, Departure Songs, and E&N. Those are their best because they have the most depth and different sounds going on. That's how their best material comes about too, tho the more purely ambient Oblivion Hymns has a few of their best songs as well.

Chasing After Shadows dude! Album is a borderline 5, as well as EAN

agree with you talons, i need their albums to have some structured songs. raising your voice, the house where we grew up, floating away in every direction, like starlight into day, tracks like these do a lot to hold the immense albums together. albums like oblivion hymns and maybe they will sing... i don't put on as frequently because they're just toooooooo ambient.

Yeah EAN is my fourth favorite, Chasing Shadows or Oblivion Hymns would be tied for my fifth favorite. Raising Your Voice, Kenotic, and Departure Songs will always be my top 3 I think.
Edit: I feel ya budgie, a lot of their albums are pretty monotonous. I've found they're a great band to just shuffle everything they've done on Spotify.

More departure songs and everything & nothing pls I bet this is pretty though

So I was the biggest fan of these guys until their primary focus was orchestral ambient.
My last day record of theirs was both sleepover series vol 2 or Everything And Nothing.
Will I enjoy this record??

I would also like to add two things:
1 I loved Longest Year, which was largely an orchestral ambient record
2 I'm drunk
