Western gamers will literally bitch over anything and they will always worship mediocre games like God of War and RDR2 and Mass Effect while refusing to give more interesting games the time of day. Death Stranding is the exception because for some reason, against all odds, Hideo Kojima made it big in the 90s in the West bc Metal Gear had lots of ass shots.

He's probably not wrong, I mean, it's been pretty momentous since its announcement.

This has nothing to do with the quality of the game, though. Death Stranding is literally probably just one of the biggest games to come out in the decade. I mean, Kojima is one of the biggest names in the industry, he's been wanting to stop making MGS games since the second one, and he's even said he's wanted to make this type of game for well over a decade now. So when he had that explosive fallout with Konami, it was pretty obvious that his first game on his own as a director for his own development studio was gonna be a Big Thing. And it is. Nothing to do with the quality of the game, more just the scope of the situation.

I see even on Sputnik there are the same people parroting absolute nonsense like "walking simulator" and "interactive movie".....the gameplay is phenomenal and diverse. Exciting and addictive. You can sit and play for 6 hours and see zero cutscenes and do zero walking if you want.....zooming around in vehicles, raiding encampments, using ziplines, throwing poop bombs at ghosts....ridiculous fun....anything but boring. Personally I love the long grueling hikes, but they're rarely necessary. Most immersive open world game I've ever played and rest assured, this is more of an open world game than people realize, and I've played 'em all. Easily stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, and I find it waaaaay more fun and engaging than the disappointingly dull RDR2. And no, I give no shits about that Kojima fella.

On topic: Yup the music is incredible.

I mean, the problem first of all is that you’re watching a stream instead of playing it yourself. This game is way more involved when you’re planning out how to navigate the landscape yourself.

I think the guy behind Low Roar actually made sound effects and whatnot for the game as well, not just music. He collaborated with Kojima quite a bit for this.

I found the promo vocal tracks with the acts like BMtH to be some of the worst songs I've heard this year, but haven't gotten a chance to hear Forssell's score. I'll give the latter a shot. Great review.

As for the game, I haven't played it myself, but from talking with friends who've tried it, it's a love-it-or-hate-it game, which is honestly Kojima in a nutshell. He's adventurous and tries new things, but that doesn't mean everything he tries makes sense or is a fundamentally good gameplay idea at all. Still willing to give this one a try when I find the time.

Mass effect is garbeto

People thinking this game is a piece of art are as pretentious as Kojima himself, the game has poor and mostly boring mechanics, bad writing and a story that is really narcisistic and pretentious. Seriously tho people like me are beyond this piece of art from the big elevated thing that Kojima is... The guy has good ideas but most of the time it is too much.

The only highlights of this game are the music and the graphics, story has his moments but in general is just complicating things for just the sake of that. 7/10 Game. 9/10 Soundtrack.

I kinda agree with the guy that said people in the western worship mediocre sagas (Even tho i think the new GoW is way better than DS) but also thinking this game is some kind of answer is really naive.

As an experience is good, as a videogame? Not so much.

All games are art lol, but I find it funny you may say it's not art, because in the realm of games if applied to other art standards in history, Death Stranding could very well fall into something of an "anti-art" category.

I mean Death Stranding is the most hyped I've been for a game since like ever but it's these overtly Kojima-defensive type of guys that shit on other AAA jams like GOW, RDR2 and Mass Effect that cause this game not to be taken seriously by the larger gaming community. I love Kojima as much as the other guy but this whole "You wouldn't get it." attitude just makes Kojima fans seem like weebs.

Yeah, I've literally never put Kojima on a pedastal or told anyone "you wouldn't get it".

All I ever said is that a lot of gamer chuds really overhype a lot of average games that all copy each other.

And that a lot of Japanese devs do more...unique stuff.
