If they recorded all of their whiny ass insults/excuses at fans and had Alex play guitar over it it would be 100% better than Hazing Over will ever be

lol I’m glad I’m not the only one totally salty over this. Like, its your band, do what you want. But this was probably my favorite screamo record of the last decade, maybe of all time.
And to throw that all away to be some shitty third rate deathcore act? Like come on man.

That's how the game is played my man, beatdown hardcore is in vogue and that same appeal can be gathered from dudebro deathcore. They're chasing the dollar signs.
Sucks, but we are the minority. But yea I'll still complain, gutless cash grab nonsense.

I am more salty that they dumbed themselves down and tried to act like people were idiots for not liking it lol
A Vegeta themed screamo band would be unironically sick fwiw

Yeah it seems like all the best skramz bands at the top of their game creatively (State Faults, Frail Body, Birds in Row, foxtails, etc) all BARELY scratch the surface of the numbers that popular alternative bands seem to garner and that is after each of them dropped 5/5 albums. That's why I know for a fact that State Faults is going to be more accessible moving forward (for proof check out SF's twitter) and I'm sure the rest will follow suit in one way or another. Touche has done it (if you want to count them.. I think I would), Pianos did it, others will too. Soul Glo may be the only outlier here but even that will only get them so far and they're a unique outlier to begin with and barely count as skramz in the same way.

Hazing Out is one of the most hilariously shitty backfires of an attempt at trying to appeal to a wider crowd. I don't think people who are trashing on them are that much of a minority.
It's fucking weird that they would even go for that scene when Sass revival stuff like SYSC/WMR has been getting some decent shots into wider auidences and has more overlap with Shin Guard's core fanbase than Chelsea Grin and Oceano type of mediocrity they decided to jump to.
Ostraca are a really good example of modern Screamo from last decade who haven't really jumped ship too heavily into accessibility. Last is beautiful.

I feel like Soul Glo's crossover appeal potential will server them well. Could see them becoming a bit hit soon into the future.
And man I hope we're not the minority lol, it's vapid as hell. I dunno if the average RYM user ever had a deathcore phase.
There's definitely still good skramz out there, these fellas just might've been on something special and bailed on it. Although, if it's true that their lead songwriter left, their stark drop in quality adds up.

I could see Soul Glo going more heavily into a hip-hop/noise type direction based on Driponomics from the new album. Maybe some Death Grips type stuff. Just hopefully not straight up rap metal unless they stay innovative and unique. They seem to value their individuality though so I have high hopes that they'll stay true to it.

I have a lot of faith in Soul Glo
