Although I accept your rev's pov I really dug the vocals lol They're are very different from the uniqueness cof cof cof ones from classic Nile, but they end up having cool variations along the tracks.

It's always good to have two different views on something. I find the vocals somewhat uncharismatic, by the band's standards.

I think they are pretty interpretative, just different from Nile ones...very powerful low growls, almost Akerfeldtlike and somewhat theatrical as lets say Sulphur Aeon (?)
They also go from weird melodic, to the said low to some high pitch, with some filthiness to it...very dynamic...anyway, just my view unprovided from any nostalgia ;)

They only tried to emulate the past/usual dynamics, but the formula lacked a fundamental piece, in my opinion.

As your summary says, I definitely sense a new chemistry here. Also found something special about Seven Horns of War m/

Karl's vox aren't stellar by any means but they're a lot better than they used to be. I'ma guess the absence of Dallas motivated Karl to improve.

I've always liked Karl's deep gutturals, which provided an interesting contrast with Dallas' most expressive signature, especially in their last releases.

Karl's vox aren't exceptional, but they're not worth complaining about either. I mean, he growls like 5 words max on every song lol

Vox are not bad just, not amazing. It wasnt distracting or anything.
The Seven Horns Of War uses this sample from the soundtrack of the PS3 exclusive video game Lair where you ride dragons (it was not a good game but it had an amazing soundtrack) and i just thought that was cool.

Strong 4. Even after all these years and a new line-up Karl and co. can still give quality egyptian death metal. Also this has suprisingly balanced production for a Nile record.

Production was never the band's strong suit, but I agree, it's solid.

That one and the last two are probably the best on here.

Title track, Seven Horns of War and Where is the Wrathful Sky are my favorites, however the most unexpected moment may be the southern groove in The imperishable Stars Are Sickened.
