I don't like this at all.
Other band members are holding back (even Baard's drums are boring), Einar's la-la-la parts are irritating and massive choruses are nowhere to be found.
I would not mind them trying something new, if the songs were good. They are not.
Even the songs that are sounding like their previous work are less good than the old stuff.

"It’s not an exaggeration to say Pitfalls could have been an Einar Solberg solo album. With one exception, he’s solely responsible for writing all of the music on Pitfalls."
Is this supposed to say he's NOT solely responsible for the album? Otherwise, how is this an exception??

This is really impressive so far

The bassist wrote the instrumental for Distant Bells. That's the exception here. Everything else was written by Einar

@OldCrime the bassist wrote one song on the record, so with one exception, Einar is solely responsible for writing all of the music on Pitfalls

Below and Distant Bells are absolute bangers. The review hit the nail on the head though that this ain't a 'Leprous' album - which does leave a lot to be desired on the instrumental front.
Sitting about a 3.3-3.4, easily the worst Leprous album though

I really don't get all that "this doesn't feel like a Leprous album" gibberish y'all dropping around. It felt like a Leprous album to me lol, just with a different approach and a more focused/tighter general concept.

I was expecting something horrible in every aspect and... I'm surprised. Liked 4-5 tracks. I can't 1 or 2d this.
The last 4-5 min of the last track are gorgeous. I wish there were more moments like this on the album. I lost hope is great, Alleviete and Below are good tracks. Observe the train is interesnting...
Don't get me wrong, it's the worst Leprous by far but I don't dislike it.

Thanks Beardog that was driving me nuts!
Nice review Willie!
Like this more than last album. Better than I expected but not what I want from Leprous.

Enjoyed this way more than I was expecting. The second half of this record was great.
Distant Bells is probably the best song on here.

Can be The Sky is Red considered as a metal track? In all honesty, I expected that song to be heavier, but I should at this time already lower my expectations of hearing a new metal song from Leprous, right?
If only this album was in the vain of The Sky is Red and Foreigner but heavier, more metal than this would be great.. I mean, if I would like pop I would listen to pop, no? But no, my favorite genre for many years right now is progmetal, so new Leprous just doesn't speak to me like their first 3 - 4 albums..
Album isn't bad, just boring for me and yeah, too poppy - even Poppy is heavier and more metal now than Leprous..
Joking, joking obviously
