i only know that japan is the second largest music market in the world behind the us and by far the largest in asia.
that certainly has something to do with it.

the phrase "making it in japan" is also known, right?

its just a different market altogether, in some sense. And japanese people are conditioned by their specific brand of consumer culture to always look for the special little difference, new flavors and things like that.

I've heard that phrase in relation to movies and video games, so it would only make sense that it applies to music too. They definitely have one of the last unique, untouched, cultures in the world.

Undiluted compared to a lot of Western countries. There's a lot of blending of cultures in a lot of Europe and the USA compared to Japan.

It's different, so it's hard to say. I think I enjoy it more than the debut, but only because the debut's sound is kind of crap. When I want to listen to the debut I listen to their live album because it sounds so much better. So, live album of debut songs or this? I'd say they're even.

In Japan, importing CD's from abroad has always been cheaper than buying them domestically. The bonus tracks serve as an incentive for customers to buy the domestic Japanese version of the album. But I would guess that problem has diminished somewhat in this age of digital music.

--It does though. When you're actually listening to a good metal album.--

There are definitely more enjoyable metal albums out there, but none I've heard that are actually more 'fun'.

I've read it's still all about the physical product in Japan. I read it in relation to video games, though.

--listen to maximum the hormone--

Added them to my itunes... will get back to you.
