"Uh Shields lyrics and vocals are much better than this. " shields is just a prog 'genericore' metal band with breakdowns and tweaked clean vocals. There's plenty of that and better bands with similar formulas (currents or polaris) not being very subjective with that rating. By the way, half of their songs for their 2018 lp don't even have the lyrics posted anywhere sooo.

"Also, Mike's vocals have been on the decline since Dead Throne." You mean the same vocals used on Zombie and With roots?

"Jeremy doesn't sound better here either." What the hell is he suppose to sound like than?? this doesn't really make any sense at all.

"I'm a big fan of this band too." Yea, who isn't? But you don't like this because of the vocals or lyrics? Pretty sure that's something this band has been getting disliked as early as Plagues.

First off, I have the Shields CD, so I've read the lyrics... and you can hear them pretty prominently on that album. Are you saying you don't know the lyrics, yet you're clowning them? Confusing! They're more deep than this album too, talking about self loathing and suicide.

Also, you mentioned two albums that came out BEFORE Dead Throne... so you make no sense. Mike's been declining since the album Dead Throne, With Roots came out before that and it's his best performance.

Jeremy SHOULD sound better here. Why would his cleans be worse now? They're more boring on this release than they have ever been and there's MORE of it than usual.

Maybe it's because there are more clean vocals, so you can hear the lyrics more on this than usual but I still think the lyrics have never been worse for this band. It started to decline with their last release which I did enjoy and then now, it's at an all time low with lyrics like "There's a diamond lost inside the earth

Deep underground within the dirt"

Cringe.

This album is superb. Only songs I'm not to fond of are Please Say No and As Kids.

“Same. Also, people are complaining about Mike's enunciation when that's been his thing since Plagues lol.”

Haha all I can think of the “congratulations” with an extra syllable on Hey John

My favorites right now are The Thread, Wave of Youth and Spiderheads. Spiderheads is their best closer since Zombie EP b

Isn't it Strange is the sleeper song that's actually growing on me. Not my favorite song here, but it's a good one for sure.

I love his vocals dude. I don't know what to tell you.

I love the raw sound that he gets, it feels like he's screaming for a reason rather than screaming just to fit into a genre. I like that you can feel the emotion in his voice.

His clean vocals are good, it's his harsh vocals I'm not a fan of.

But the album overall is solid

How though? They did Roots in 2009 and this sounds nothing like that album.

Yeah man this rules. I’m sorry you can’t get into it. Hopefully it grows on you!

nah i just meant 2009 metalcore in general, he sounds like mychildren mybride. too much talky voice, not enough scream. it's like he's struggling to do anything more than spoken word, vocals chords sound totally shredded

Word. Sorry you couldn't get into man.

Personally, I love the vocals. Both Mike and Jeremy sound good here and none of the songs really sounds the same so it's easy to put it on and let the whole thing spin.

I've tried to follow TDWP's artistic progression, but ultimately, they've lost me. I love the artwork though, so there's that I guess.
