Agreed Glock and Pop Trunk are real good. Everything else kinda falls flat for me, both the production and Ameer's vocals feel so dead at points.

Hmmm yeah I def get the production critiques blush, some songs definitely lacked a punch. The whole dead delivery is ameer's speciality tho and makes for an aptly depressing and bleak output. As a project that's attempting to face everything he's been through, it makes sense, but it also elevates the moments of actual passion and energy that much more.

Came back from the grave to say that Conmaniac is 100% correct. These low scores for this are pretty wack tbh.

imo the beats on this sound great and Ameer still sounds like Ameer (both in good ways and in bad). This is at worst a 3 and is more like a 3.5-4.

You cannot ignore that how Ameer is as a person is inseparable from the music he puts out. Ameer Vann is probably the last person you should apply "separate the art from the artist!" to. This EP is one big response from him to the world, and the response is fairly weak. Cool beats tho, and all that.

Art is linked to the artist in this case yes, as with every artist and their art can't argue against that. I wouldn't treat this EP as an "@brockhampton" release though in the slightest. Not as much a response and more so a deep self reflection and admittance of his destructive coping mechanisms. I only bring this point up because I suspect many of the low scores are caused by BH stans wanting to hate whatever he puts out. For those that feel his response is terrible, along with the actual music, it's perfectly fine to have that opinion.

I also agree his response is a bit weak...one of the flaws is how there's no true development lyrically from his stuff on BH. However, I do enjoy his honesty and how much bitter regret drips out of his delivery (T/t, LA). Not sure what a "strong" response could be from this guy. He's got a lot of growing to do and expecting it within a 6 song EP a little over a year after everything went down is pretty unrealistic

Does his have just that one flow on this project like he did for most of brockhampton

He improves his flow a lot, more energy, different patterns, not just the deep voiced one liners.

Lyrically however it's basically the same plus shit about how he lost all his friends.

okay cool. Hearing that same exact flow was a HUGE reason why Sat III did not vibe with me.

I agree in the sense that giving this a 1/5 off that merit is kind of silly, some of the music here is fine, but I disagree in the sense that I feel there were a myriad of more impactful and profound ways Ameer could have responded. Not that I really expected much, I guess. At the end of the day it also probably depends greatly on how invested you are in BH and Ameer in general. I could see an outsider come in and listen to this and get some brief context and think “eh yeah this is a 4 sure”

Idk why, but this was really vibin on shrooms. This would definitely be at 2.9/3 instead of 2.4 if it wasn't Ameer releasing it
