This is a grower actually. I initially shared the same criticisms as you Treb.

“dude that's pretty much their management team who also reaches out to said bands and offers the damn money
also its pretty bold of you to assume their fans are brainlets idiots if you really think they go through that kind of reasoning, there's still no strong evidence of a sexual assault other than 2 different stories”
That’s a fair point, but their agents actually work for them, so if they weren’t happy about the price, they could fire them. Also, based on my interactions with the victim, the way Dylan described the incident as being a 'misunderstanding between implied and given consent' is not how the victim would describe what happened.

The production on this and swell absolutely ruin it for me, this couch/ pleasant living/ celebrate were PACKED with bangers along with sincerely endearing emo ballads that weren’t puffed up with any unnecessary overproduction on the vocals or overall sound, it had a raw charm to it. Swell and breathe just sound bored and forced with their least interesting instrumentation backing it all up. I say this as a Dylan stan too... shit hurts :/

Lmao that summary [3]
Maybe I don’t listen to enough pop-punk or Midwest emo to be sick of TMP, but I’m still super into what they’re doing here. Yes, it’s very much their sound, but I don’t hate getting more of it. Now, if they were to do this for their next album, I might not be as enthusiastic. Even I have a sameness threshold.

would i like this if i thought swell was generic and boring?

"Someone could tell me that Breathe is actually ten b-sides from the band's last three records and I’d probably believe them"

Caution destroys anything on this album.

Rafalafa, I have to agree. I love this (my being from Minnesota is a big bias I have) but If they don’t change it up a bit next time around I think it’ll grow stale.
I feel like they could flesh out their songs a little bit, open up some more of the instrumental prowess we all know is present. Also, the lyrics could use a little upgrade next time around. Either way I’m interested to see what they do next.

well I'm actually hoping for some sort of development on the case like I hope they work things out in a similar fashion as Cameron Boucher did when his case came afloat, don't get me wrong I always hope for the victim's healing but also believe people are deserving of redemption, I think this type of cases shouldn't be taken out of proportion and ofc be scrutinized individually, 2 weeks ago one of the Night in the Woods developers killed himself over some allegations that at this point have been pretty much proven to be bullshit, it stills bums me out since that game has meant a lot to me and a lot of folks

“Caution destroys anything on this album.”
Yeah, but, Polar Bear.
I’d love to get the next album and there’s a 17-minute epic that’s inspired by This Will Destroy You.

I see where your coming from, however, I don’t believe that they should have a platform based on how many bands/artists keep on doing this shit (I.e. Front Porch Step, Lostprophets, Brand New, Moose Blood, Drake, Capsize etc). Allowing them back into the scene and having a platform just sends out the message that this behaviour is tolerated, meaning that more bands will feel it’s okay to act like this, putting more women at risk of being a victim to this behaviour.

Is this better than Swell pls

it's the same

Swell's production is better but yeah, they're about the same in terms of quality.

I think by track 2 on first listen I realised just how annoying these guys' lyrics can be. And how recycled they are. And how repetitive their sound is.
Like I love 'em, but I'm just very ready for them to try something different. I feel like this band could spend more time on getting their music right, like taking the refined quality of tracks like Medicine or Good Enough combined with...well just better lyrics.
Not a bad background listen tho at least?

That's not good....prob another 2.5 here huh?
