Agreed. There are some good tunes but this should be banger after banger.
What other country is everyone listening to? I love Sturgill and Isbell, and I think Stapleton and Childers are just OK. Does anyone listen to Ruston Kelly? Is he any good? Any other recs?

Ruston Kelly’s highlights are really good, but this full album is waaaay too long and plodding. Check out John Moreland, especially “In The Throes”, if you like Sturgill and Isbell! Amigo the Devil and Neko Case are a little more experimental country/Americana that I think are good entry ways to the genre for folks not quite ready for the full twang

Haven't been super on the country game since I was a wee lad, but you can't go better than the Dixie Chicks

Oh weird :/
3.5'd this because "Old Soul" through "Only Child" is a weirdly great string of songs

They’re all amazing goddammit
My Only Child hits hard yeah. Just surprised you don’t love the opening track... it’s perfect! And Redesigning Woman is a great country pop tune. Love all the contributions throughout too, from Yola to Isbell.

What really? Why not!? It's SO catchy and fun.
My least fav is Cocktail and a Song, but it's grown on me a bit.

I don't want to relisten to it to give a good reason, I just remember really not liking the chorus group-singing and that the message of housewife feminism felt very flaccid compared to other works this year, especially coming from four very established country stars
