I'm not about to make a defence for literally all other skramz, but this seems a pretty clear-cut case of superficially unsettling delivery for superficially unsettling lyrics (not that that makes them purely superficial etcetc).
And fwiw the majority of screams I've jammed recently have been female - wasn't trying to imply that was shocking in itself

But isn't it more that the whole thing is filtered to hell and back and the scramz just exist in that filtered existence? I don't know because I literally don't listen to anything else with vocals like this, other than DSBM where the vocals are practically identical to the scream vocals here (and now that I think about it the emotional message being expressed in DSBM is similar to in this album).
On the point of superficially unsettling delivery... Superficial just means 'on the surface'. This is a vocally oriented album. It's meant to be an unsettling album. Doesn't that just mean it serves its purpose? But your point about them being 'superficially unsettling lyrics' is pretty harsh considering that I really doubt it's a superficial topic for her.
Btw I would genuinely love to know those female vocalists / bands you've been listening to, if you wouldn't mind sharing.

@Dimorphic that comment was based on a pretty cursive listen - I'm sure there is more depth here (regardless of whether or not I'll appreciate it). I don't want to claim at this point that those qualities are just superficial, but they certainly aren't hitting me beyond that atm, so I'll have to come back to this and reconsider :]
And sure! Pretty much all of them are from various j-punk groups, where that kind of thing is way more common (plus a dip back into good ol' Rolo Tomassi).
