Really solid listen, political commentary feels just right as well. What a folk album

So this isn’t getting much replay value for me and I think the reason is that it just makes me want to listen to Right Away, Great Captain!

I love this album so much. I was initially bummed it didn’t sound like the first two albums, but I might have to move this to at least a 4.5. “Wheel Well” and “I Wrote It Down For You” are superb.

No one had given Kevin Devine's solo album any love this year.

Devinyl Splits Vol. 2: Kevin Devine and friends.

There are some great tracks on it. The Front Bottoms song, Rhode Island, is their best in years.

Lake House is a game changing track. A la Sufna's "4th of July"; just a striking song.

What Am I Supposed to Be gets stuck in my head for weeks at a time.

Lake House came on today and reminded me to listen to this again (it's been 6 months at least). Still so, so gorgeous and perfect. On par with the best MO. 👌

I Love You is the perfect antitode to everything going on in the world right now, perfectly encapsulating the confusion of everyday living with the glimmer of hope that things will get better.

"But love isn't passive, A trick or a tactic, Tried to call action, So, go let 'em have it" may well just be the best and bluntest Kevin's writing throughout his discography.

III isn't an album I've revisited much since the intial few months of release, but still feels like a real ethereal folk tour de force, that definitely seems to be inspiring the ethereal industrial snippets of the Million Masks of God promos to date. Andy and Rob really know how to create soundscapes!

Wheel Well was the biggest grower here. First spin didn't seem like anything amazing, but man the way their vocals intertwine and swell is nothing short of heavenly.

Seems like a logical thing to do to me.

This was the first bad books album I really dove into, but I generally gotta agree with the above sentiment. I am significantly more interested in MO or Andy Hull work than I am the combined effort despite also being a huge Kevin Devine fan.

The revisited version of II, is well worth checking
