Luminance is top Cave In

Eh, I just never want to listen to either of them like I do the rest of their stuff.
I just listened to the Sacrifice Poles for the first time the other day, and I liked it more than I thought I would.

The production on this really slaps.

Winter Window is out of this world. Production is also very good, unlike another album that came out recently and that I was really looking forward to.

This is at least up there with White Silence and UYHS for me. Not QUITE at the level of Jupiter, but it's the most seamless they've ever been with perfectly melding that side with their heavier material. I don't really agree that it feels hugely unfinished, judging from the interviews it sounds like they had most of the song structures and music already done and were going for a lean and mean record in the first place.

more consistent overall than White Silence I think, but that opening stretch on WS is fucked good

WS has a super strong first half and then a really weird second half. All of it is great, but it is one of the strangest out of nowhere turns I have heard on an album.
Really like all of this but haven't had any specific standouts yet.

I used to hate the last third of White Silence but it grew on me hard

I wouldn't say I hated the songs, but I was usually done after Centered for the longest time. They came around for me eventually, too.

Iron Decibels is really the only blatant oddball track on WS. Heartbreaks & Earthquakes sounds almost like it could be a Muse track

I actually loved Reanimation from the start tbh. beautiful closing track with some really powerful lyrics, I wouldn't change a thing about it
still think Heartbreaks is fucking wack though, and Iron Decibels is just okay

This is another band that has a super cool evolution. Really interesting to start from the beginning and hear how things unfold.
