It most reminds me of the problems I had when first listening to Coma Cluster Void, who I ended up loving. There's definitely something here, just wondering if it'll actually give up its secrets in the end.

The band says the album is something like this:
"I: Voice is the sum of 5 years of creativity and focused work. The music plays as a stream of consciousness – jumping often from one area of the metal spectrum to the next with recurring melodies and vibes throughout for the purpose of bringing about an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Since Essence Of The Land & Two Demons came out, we worked to build upon and elaborate on our musical style and mission statement. From what started as an idea of modern death metal with hints at black metal evolved into a more progressive, unique, and “epic” ethos. Horrifying & beautiful, dynamic & aggressive, harmony found through dissonance, an ebb and flow through drama and resolution, a flirtation with memory, a call for collaboration, personality, and reality – immense emotional energy seamlessly woven within the death metal genre."
so yeah maybe not recommendable for someone passing through a rough time X)

Amazing review, completely agree with everything you said. 2 does seem a bit harsh though considering there are a lot of great moments in this album and they did large parts of it really well, which is more than can be said for a lot of metal.

Yeah rev is a good pillow to put this aside. Should consider other outputs outside sput though.

That quote from the band makes me hate this even more lol

If you guys don t like conceptual works or artistic interpertations and like your music expectable, plain and emotionless then don t bother yeah. Keep on those little boxes. Go cry on kacey musgraves.

Think again about who s the elite here.

Do you actually think the quality of a work is directly correlated with its ambition or something?

I did. But towards the minority with stronger voice. (Aka elite)

Holy shit lmao

"Im not an elitist I just think anyone who dislikes this is a vocal minority that doesnt understand how deep and conceptual this work of art is."

Yeah this is a hot mess, sorry guys. Reading that quote definitely doesn’t help either... purposefully obtuse composition masquerading as conceptual art. ‘Stream of consciousness’ is a valid criticism in this context, something the band themselves are using as a selling point. Colour me confused.

"But what makes you think they are just a loud minority though" well, the rating for a start. Some outofsput insights.
Plus sliceofpaper, I joined sput so we can speak about those things without being called an elitist. And I think you guys know I know pretty much all of you can appreciate art or concepts. I Said "if" then "don t bother", sometimes minds get a bit old, rusty or influenciated.
Sorry if I hurt someone's feelings for his/her love on Musgraves.
Even the dude with a 4 says this is anoying lol so I seem pretty alone on the thread considering this as a modern classic.
Anyway, Beneath the Forest Floor and The Color of my Memory are two insta classics, therefore not a 2.
