My favorite release of the last 2 and a half years. Pile has nailed and incorporated dynamics in ways that no one else has. Mix that in with Rick's distinct voice - it just hits the nail on the head for me. But their style overall is consumed best as a "grower" instead of a "shower". I don't have much to say other than each member holds their own and the songwriting is incredible and, again, very dynamic!

EDIT: I don't have any serious problems with the production other than the fact it is way too soft volume-wise. I listen to this CD the most in the car and at full volume on my stereo its still not loud enough! Never came across any other music that soft. Wish it was louder

What’s your favorite release of the last 2 and three-quarter years?

Yep, this was a monster. I agree that you could never get it quite loud enough in the car.

Did you hear the Shell of a Shell album? Rick's guitarist doing his own thing. Shares these vibes heavily.

This album is too loud/dynamically compressed as well as weirdly produced in my opinion. The quiet parts sound okay, but once it gets loud it sounds pretty bad. You guys must have really quiet stereos if you can't get this album loud enough. Either that or the CD isn't the same as the download which is unlikely.

That wasn't a production critique Willie. Just saying I loved to take rides with the stereo cranked back when this came out.

And yeah, underrated/overlooked for sure.

This album allowed me to discover hair shirt which was kind. I love when you discover a group or artist that already has a catalog for you to dive into.

Man it's amazing how subjective music is cos I think this blows hairshirt out the water by quite a bit! Either way, amazing band!

I wish Baroness were this good. Definitely not hearing that much of a similarity other than they're both rock bands.
