I've never heard anything quite like it, that's for sure.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it unique but it's definitely special

I mean it's not made of any unique components but something about the way it's put together is pretty special

I recommend Young Jesus and Strange Ranger for fans of Pile. Different than Pile, but also similar in ways.

Hair is definitely one of the best songs of 2019 this far

This album is so strange. Nothing sticks out to or with me, but it's all so good, and I can't stop listening.

The softer tracks are amazing. "Hair" and "Bruxist Grin" especially stood out to me. I'm leaning toward a 4.0 rating right now (after ~1.5 listens), but think I need to listen a few more times. It reminded me of Unwound's album Leaves Turn Inside You in some parts. Do you know that album? Seems like one you'd really enjoy.

I will say my biggest criticism of this album other than the sound engineering is that there's more abrasive songs on this album than most other Pile albums, and some are maybe just a bit too abrasive. Still a great album, though.

After this album I checked out A Hairshirt Of Purpose which was also great, and yes, less abrasive.

Sounds like I gotta spin some other Pile albums, because on a whole the standout tracks for me here were the less abrasive ones.

Yup, you should definitely listen to all of them, including the Odds and Ends compilation. Jerk Routine might be my favorite album, but I enjoy all of them.
