The lyrics hold the songs back - it's usually a forgivable aspect in a lot of rock music, but the vocalist sings in such a clear tone of voice, it's hard not to ficus on them
The music is pretty excellent though and he does sing well (though that wolf howl/growl thing he does is pretty silly heh)

Lyrics don't bother me because I take them as a catchy goth gimmick that works decently with the singer's voice, even though hearing him sing about dragons can be a bit too much indeed. But really my problem is that songwriting is just shallow, only the melodic final part of Jackie has something to say for me. I also appreciate the sheer catchiness of Double Negative.

Yeah Sab, I getchu, but if anything the album's catchiness brings all focus to the bad lyrics. 14yo goth poetry is pretty apt lol - but the songwriting, as simple as it is, is captivating. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the post-punk/nwobhm crossover, but it is effective
