Yes this is definitely a step up from most of palms.

Oh, good, there's a youtube stream now. Thanks for posting a link. I was wondering when one was going to show up.

Gonna check this for the first time. Hope I like it.

Should have put these songs on palms and gotten rid of The Dark, Hold Up a Light, Only Us, and My Soul

But Only Us is the best song on Palms!

Blasphemy. Blood on Blood and Beyond the Pines are the best tracks

Ok let me clarify: Only Us and Beyond the Pines are the best on Palms.

I remember liking this, but I already forgot what songs are what on it.

Time to listen again.

So, after 3 listens, here is what I am thinking:

Stumbling West > In This Storm >> Deeper Wells >>>> A Better Bridge

Okay yeah I've thought about which songs to replace

Deeper Wells for Hold up a Light (easy one)

In this Storm for The Dark

Stumbling West for A Branch in the River

You might have too many slower songs on Palms with that configuration, but maybe add Stumbling to make 11 songs.

I don't know, the T/t would be an odd fit on Palms. That whole album is fairly inconsistent, tho, so maybe it would work, if placed right.

A Better Bridge is my fav on first listen. Will have fun putting a custom Palms playlist together with these songs.

I like this more than Palms for sure. Still think Dustin’s lyricism has become too on the nose, but it’s a really great listen.

This finally dropped on Spotify and holy hell this rips hard af

The opening track gives off serious Ambulance vibes.

Thrice writes one moderately energetic song and people think it sounds like Ambulance??

idk Dustin's a pale shadow of the lyricist he once was and that's really killing the band

Stumbling West > Deeper Wells > A Better Bridge > In This Storm

Maybe it's just that Dustin's newly-terrible lyricism is more tolerable in sparser, slower tracks where he can wring more emotion out of it? the only great track on Palms was Beyond the Pines, too. It's so frustrating seeing glimmers of Thrice's old potential and how they seem dead set on squandering it.

Good shit actually. Like everyone has said, better than at least half of Palms.

the lyrics in A Better Bridge are actively bad. not the message he's trying to convey, but the ham-fisted way he does it.

That said, the other three songs are fantastic. Stumbling West gives me chills.

Yeah he can definitely be ham fisted at times lately. But when he’s good, he’s very, very good. And you still have to give credit where credit is due as far as his past work goes.

Absolutely, Dustin's past work (and current singing) speaks for itself, which is why I hold him to a higher standard. these lyrics don't meet that standard for me.
