@gchip I'm glad that I came to the second page to read your comment because I thought I was going crazy for a minute there. In my opinion, Body Thief sound NOTHING like most of the bands that have been mentioned in the comments and by the author. The fact that the conversation devolves into the usual discussion about Swancore bands and other related/unrelated topics says more about the posters than this band, in my view.

I absolutely agree with Greg's position that takes umbrage with phrases like 'dime-a-dozen Hail The Sun clones' and more. Seems like a pretty common 'out' for post-hardcore reviewers these days; use a paintbrush rather than feel into the songs and listen for difference. References to DGD (even in passing), for example, seem so far off base to me. Just the production alone is a huge differentiation. The production on the DGD albums over the last 4 years have been so polished as to leave the more raw production on this Body Thief album feeling more like a throwback to the late 2000s, early 2010s. I really like the feeling that that brings with it. I won't touch on the other aspects which differentiate Body Thief from some of the bands mentioned but they have a completely different feeling, when I listen to them (production, lyrics, song structures, singing style (cadence rather than tone)).

The only thing I agree with the review about is when he says that occasionally the singer sounds like he's stretching himself a bit thin. Other than that, the reviewer (and many of the comments) seem to miss a lot of the picture.

Otherwise, thanks Body Thief for making two sweet albums that I get a kick out of. Appreciate the time, effort and energy in creating music for others.
