I'm not saying to go hard all the time. But the band seems to hold themselves back from cutting loose thus creating a boring and samey atmosphere.

I think the intent was to make for a more varied experience, by not making every song build into some heavy metalcore/post-hardcore stuff. That's precisely why some of the lighter songs hit a ton harder for me, because the album ebbs and flows so seamlessly.

The lighter songs are honestly the more boring songs. Especially the piano driven ones.

Can't say I agree, but then again I'm the type that tires easily of heavier stuff if I'm stuck on it for too long and it's not coupled with something more substantial than just "it rips hard."

That is how I feel Kenbo. My favorite two on here are monochrome and like a shadow. I think they are the most catchy ones.

i feel this, this record makes me beg for a goddamn generic breakdown or some shit (which isn't something i thought i'd ever say)

I think they should explore their more aggressive side more.

They're not a metalcore band so I doubt it'll happen. Theres a reason I voted against them being labeled metalcore on RYM, no clue why people voted against the alt rock and post rock genres I tried adding since they're clearly in there haha

Yes we're the stoic robots for not thinking a band who feels like they're on autopilot 85% of the time isn't the best thing since sliced bread

It's not about going hard like some metalcore band, it's about soaking in the atmosphere. The fact that people actually think these guys are metalcore and aren't willing to admit that this is closer to alt-rock is funny to me tbh.
|
| |
A lot of the riffs are v metalcore. They are looking to combine metalcore and alt rock. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The atmosphere doesn't always work very well, some cuts are really dull after repeat listens. It's at its best when the atmosphere does work.
Also, Deathbat, you gotta chill on arguing peoples opinions or trying to justify your own over other peoples when they disagree. Album isn't as good as the initial hype, but it's not bad either.

It doesn't sound much like a Metalcore album to me at all, there's a reason I voted against that tag on RYM.
And I'm still under the impression that some of these people are kinda not getting the point of the album.
