Is this more like Angel Olsen or like Julien Baker?

I didn’t really get a Baker vibe personally. Vocally she reminds me of Olsen and Haley Heynderickx

Hell yeah Blush! So glad you’re also liking this one more than her debut. Thx for the kind words too

Heynderickx is a good comparison -- both of them have this soft, even kinda quaint quality to their voices, that is also deceptively powerful when it comes down to it. I don't see any Baker, either.

And this might be a 4 Atari!!! It really is a grower / something that lets you in very cautiously.

Great review as always Atari. This sounds right up my alley so I'll add it to my quick-turnaround-listen-list (stuff to listen to this week, not my endless recs list dating back to 2010).

Cheers Sowing. You’ll have to report back with your thoughts!

@Blush, that’s awesome news ;) “Head Alone” is so addicting. My current favorite but the album wouldn’t be the same without “Body”

Body towers over this album imo
Head Alone, Pressure To Party, and last 2 tracks are fantastic as well tho

Wonderful! No Julien Baker vibes but it reminds me of Big Thief a lot. Guitars and mood are very similar. Love it

Pressure to Party is my favorite so far. This whole album is so easy to like; could grow on me even more...definitely feeling the Heynderickx comparison, although this is noticeably more energetic. Thanks for reviewing this Atari, don't think I would have bothered with it otherwise.

About to give this a spin. Great rev Atari.

I do hope the Heynderickx is not too prominent cause that'd be a huge turn off for me.

I honestly don't get any Heydrickx vibe from this at all, she is way more folksy and quirky than this

Goddamn, this is painfully similar to Olsen and Heynderickx. The more upbeat songs like "You Were Right" are kinda ok but the songwriting, the vocal delivery, the instrumentation really all calls back to those artists. I think I'm burnt out of this style, everything sounds the same to me ):

Now see, personally, Nadler more often than not bored me to tears

Yeah Atari, sorry man, I already went in knowing I probably wouldn't enjoy it, I'll give it a spin on a different day, on a different mood and maybe I bump it a bit, but on first listen this is how it felt like.

you were right is the best song here, yea... i also feel the more up-beat moments are when this album really shines. The more slow cuts are kinda boring.
