The added key arrangements to the heavy songs are so bad

Man the productions is amazing on this record, it brings so much more energy to songs like 'Era'. Also, I think a great part of the 'worse' sounding screaming has to do with production as well, Mikael's screams always have this airy reverb effect over them in studio recordings, and it's not applied here, which obviously changes the way it sounds completely. Ofcourse this is only a partial effect, because the screams are obviously not as good as on studio-recordings.

Been out of the Opeth loop for a long time. What happened to his voice? Was he not using correct technique and shredded his vocal chords? Or just from age?

Ranges from show to show I find, depends what mood he is in.

I don't know why Deliverance has been such a prevalent live staple, and at 13 minutes long. It's a good song of course, but in that time you could have both Beneath the Mire and The Funeral Portrait instead or something. Their concerts aren't that long for a prog band, so time is precious.

Akerfeldt really isn't that bad in this one. Heir Apparent sounds pretty damn decent for a Sorceress live show

That transition from Cusp to Heir Apparent is 11/10 stuff.

Even with proper technique, wkme people just cant do that style for 20 years or more without it having some effect on their vocal cords

The Devil's Orchard, Cusp of Eternity, and all the Sorceress tracks sound better on this than the studio versions imo

Seen these guys 4-5x before 2011 and wont pay a penny to see them again. Akerfeldts writing is garbage now.

Bit difficult for them to pick a setlist that everyone will like. People want them to play older material but also don't like his harsh vocal sound these days so they can't really win

They can play whatever they want for me as long as they pretend sorceress doesn't exist

I would've liked them to pick songs they didn't have on live releases before. The audience would have appreciated that as well imo.

It's difficult though, I get what you're saying but if it's your first time seeing Opeth tracks like Ghost of Perdition and Demon of the Fall are ones you're going to want to hear live
