No, it never bothered me, really. Just, you know, I didn't enjoy it. I really like the pressure and the general atmosphere in Majora's Mask, it has one of my favorite things in any videogame, and the soundtrack is better too.

OoT was my first Zelda. Fell in love the first way through. Took me three or four playthroughs as a kid to come to love MM but when it clicked, it floored me. The MM soundtrack is possibly my favourite piece of music in general. It doesn’t surprise me at all that opinions regarding which one is better are generally so strong; both games are fantastic for almost completely different reasons.

No. Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time are the only ones I've finished, and I've played a little bit of A Link to the Past and Wind Waker.

Link's awakening is weird because it has some mario enemies in it, and the dungeons have Mario platforming sections. And i think Kirby even appears as an enemy in one of the dungeons. I'd recommend it. Loved link's awakening as a kid

Ocarina of Time was also my first one and things considered, I would have never bothered with playing Majora's Mask if it wasn't because I saw that little trick they use when a day is going to end.

Tbh with your description Link's Awakening doesn't sound like the kind of game I'd enjoy, but I can give it a try.

the aspect ratio changes at the end of each day in MM terrified me the first time I played it. still give me shivers. that whole game is rife with tension

ALBW was really good but I wouldn’t place it above A Link to the Past. That game was so ahead of its time and influenced many of the series trademarks: mini-games, quirky characters, darker artwork, better music, way more items...you name it
