Melt-Banana has been posting on their YouTube channel as of late. Maybe they're teasing a follow up to Fetch.

They said at the end of last year that they wanted to drop an album in 2019. Hopefully it comes out before their UK tour...

That would be def AOTY material. Fetch is one of my all-time faves.

Fetch is barely in my top 3 MxBx but if they dropped something on that level it'd have a strong shot at AOTY

So which ones are your favourites? Cell Scape > Fetch > this (early days) > Squeak > Cactus... that’s all I’ve heard so far.

1. Cell Scape - keeps up a ridiculous level of quality and would probably be a soft 5 if it weren't for that 10 minute outro
2. Charlie - has the best production on any of their releases aside from maybe Fetch, opener goes absurdly hard and the album in general is the most brutal thing they've done
3. Fetch - very consistent, incredibly well-crafted and some of their best tracks but feels a little too clean to hold its own with their best
4. Bambi - total mess of an album but fun as hell with a few colossal bangers
5. Teeny Shiny - probably the most rhythmically interesting thing they've done and their best bass album, but muddy production and a little short of highlight tracks
6. Squeak - lol, fun blast but not much to distinguish individual songs
7. Cactus - fell asleep last time I tried to hear this in full, should give it another shot
Need to round things off with Scratch sometime

Charlie sounds good, checking that one next. I didn’t like Cactus, but otherwise they’re a fun band. I plan on rounding out the discog. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips Johnny, this is one of those bands I feel like I need a field guide for despite their discog not being all that massive

I recently joined a band on drums that basically worships melt banana. Check it out, people:

Now that you're properly in the band should I feel bad for finding the album Jpopsuki?

Not at all!
I haven't seen any coin yet lol

Bump, yeah this is better than I remember. Gets weird at times, wouldn’t expect any less from these guys. I don’t mind admitting that I prefer their more fleshed out compositions. Speaking relatively of course.

Hahaha yeah, that figures - love how the the 'fleshed out' label feels as though it applies more to the 2min punk bangers at the start and not the 5min ambient cuts that would probably work as standalones. album is fked

I consider a 2:00 punk track fleshed out in this context, ha. And yeah I get what you mean, a couple of their experimental (for MB) ambient pieces sound flimsy and slightly undercooked. Still, it makes their albums appear like they’re an ‘appropriate’ length for the uninitiated.
