Fripp, the new Deerhunter has a similar tonal palette to HD at times - for a lot of people you’d think it was a ‘best of both styles’ sort of deal.

It’s easily superior to this and the James Blake.

don't know there's much to be gained out of comparing albums purely because they share a release date - that said Deerhunter will go under the radar under my dead damn body

From the singles I didn't think I'd like this, but it's better than I expected.

the Deerhunter starts of with Bowie undertones, and finishes sounding like Destroyer--what's not to like :-)

Seventeen may have effectively dethroned Your Love Is Killing Me as my favorite song by her. It's so powerful.

As a whole, I can see where the praise is coming from but I didn't particularly enjoy the direction she took here.

I feel like "Your Love Is Killing Me" is more of an epic, emotionally driven song, although 17 is every bit as poignant when you listen closely and break down the lyrics. I wish the rest of the album were as focused, because this is grade-A songwriting. I think the second half is vastly superior to the former, will probably affect its replay value for the worse but time will tell.

"Memorial Day" is easily my favourite song on the first half of the album. One of her most atmospheric songs ever.

But sure, Inertia Creeps the second

'Comeback Kid' is getting more obnoxious every play sadly
