'there's a lot more going on imo'
yeah there's too much added, and a lot of these added elements are irritating

"The Everlasting Gays"

Everlasting gaze was awesome, I bought machina because of that before I was a big fan of smashing pumpkins. Most of the album is pretty bad though.
For me EG, stand inside your love and Age of innocence are pretty much the only songs I liked off of it, although I should listen again maybe.
Adore is ok for me,starts off good and then trails off, way too fuckin long

Y'all crazy, The Everlasting Gaze rips. The drumming alone elevates it into the upper-tier of SP, easily one of Jimmy's finest moments and one of their most intense songs imo

Agreed man such a total banger

But honestly I really struggle to understand why people are giving this anything higher than a 2.5 or 3. It's the laziest song writing of his career, easily. We didn't need three more versions of 1979, but here they are.

Yes, yes, yes
I love Machina, when I first got it years ago I was pretty much of the opinion that it was more or less 50/50 in terms of good & bad tracks, but overtime i've found something to like about most of them, even if the album is definitely overlong & kinda meandering towards the end

I like Solara and Ghosts but the rest is poor.

almost the entirety of machina 1 and 2 is excellent. Really only a handful of poor songs here and there (blue skies bring tears, Saturnine, Cash Car Star, and Heavy Metal Machine). The rest range from perfect (Atom Bomb, With Every Light, Stand Inside Your Love, This Time, If There Is a God), excellent (Let Me Give The World To You, Glass And The Ghost Children, Age of Innocence, Vanity, Wound) and pretty good (Go, Innocence, The imploding Voice, Real Love). Never have understood the hate for the Machinas.

Cash Car Star's reissue version on the deluxe version of Adore is fantastic
it really emphasizes how bad the decisions on Machina were

Watched melonhead's YU NO REVIEW last night, he talked about the pumpkins album and as much as he agrees with the general rating in this page, to said the listeners "keep listening to melon collie" was disgusting. I might be a pumpkins fanboy, but disrespect Corgan's work post melon collie is insulting.

The guitar is pretty disappointing because I remember those amazingly warm and crunchy riffs on Siamese Dream and Gish and Melon Collie. Why is it so simple and thin?

By the way there's something in poor taste about Corgan inviting that garbaged up, scuzzy, mean, nasty and filthy broad Courtney Love on stage with the Pumpkins and apparently he's all chummy with her now and they're dating again or some shit.

That's a nice video. I don't like Corgan's decisions but I really like his style of playing and how obsessed he is with sound and getting the guitar just right. I wish he layered a few more guitars on the album though.

Corgan's without a doubt one of the most underrated guitarists in the business. Dude is such a beast
