Nice one Luc. This is an album I’d love to hear for the first time again - it totally took over my world for a good while, few other albums are as incredibly consistent as this one.
Not a day goes by, I don’t think about you...

That could very well happen to me. This is so immediately accessible and easy to listen to. It will undoubtedly dominate my listening for the next few days.

Boney, do you like her newer stuff? I can't get into her voice anymore.

I do, she had a couple weaker releases in the late 00s early 10s but I love her last two proper albums, she was on a real hot streak from ‘14-‘16. Her only album I don’t really like is Little Honey.

Think I need to revisit this one. I really liked it but have become even more open to county since hearing it. Also, a Chan 4.5 + Lucman and Boney 5 is more than enough to convince me it’s time for another spin

Definitely try this again, this is pretty much the Holy Grail of country. This and Southeastern are pretty much neck and neck for my top country album but gun to my head I’d take this over that - much more representative of the genre as a whole and much more listenable without being any less emotionally potent even if it’s not as raw.

Damn, that’s quite the statement!
This was an easy 4 for me so I don’t doubt it will grow

Hmmm, I'd have to go with Southeastern over this, a near 5 while this is a rock-solid 4. More emotionally resonant for me personally, and I love Isbell's storytelling.

They’re not even really comparable, different ends of the country spectrum and they work for very different reasons. Southeastern could have kind of been written by anybody anywhere - that’s not a knock on its uniqueness or quality of craft but rather the difference is that this album is so rooted in a sense of time and space associated with the American South and much more deeply steeped in American musical tradition. The storytelling here is equally potent for me and more evocative, even if it’s not a heart-wrenching or as immediate as Southeastern’s.

I need to hear Southeasthern again. I liked it but it didn't move me as much as it did for you guys. This is immaculate though and the atmosphere and imagery it invokes it second to none. Boney hit the nail on the head.

Neeka if you 5 two Dixie Chicks albums you have no excuse to not give this at least a 4.5

Lol I meant that more as a slight dig at the Dixie Chicks than anything, they’re not bad at all though I’m not a fan (haven’t really listened to any of their full albums though) the point was more that if he’s open to country of any kind to the extent of a 5 he should like this a lot.

That's a great song yeah. Self-titled is amazing, my second favorite from her, it def deserves a review as well.
Perhaps I'll review the new album dropping tomorrow...
