Keepsake is one of the best songs of the year and I’m sure this record could become a “grower” but it’s 2018...these bands need to start making songs that entice their listeners on the first or second listens. TSSF did exactly that with their new record, Basement’s sound has always been evolving from the more hardcore/punk/emo sound on I Wish I Could Stay Here to their more straight-forward punk rock sound on their past 3 efforts. That being said, I liked how they started to incorporate a bit more emo on this album but some songs are just too flat and lack dynamic that their two strongest efforts: I Wish I Could Stay and Colourmeinkindness offered.

still bland

nah this is good. doesn't really "challenge" the listener, but there's just enough variety here to keep it fresh. I'd give it a 3.7 if I could

I would give it a 3.1 and never listen to it again so I will give it nothing.

Something about these guys just can’t grab me all the way. I keep trying every album and wind up forgetting about them the second it ends. That being said, the quality of the music is very good, thus my rating.

This might on par with Colourmekindness IMO. I would recommend this album if you're into 90's Foo Fighters, early 00's Jimmy Eat World and Water And Solutions era Far. Hell, if you're into late 90's Alt-rock or you would dig this.

This album is basically a mix of Clarity and Bleed American-era Jimmy Eat World meets Sunny Day Real Estate and I'm liking it more and more with each listen. It's definitely a grower but I can't get New Coast out of my head.

Not really understanding the hype around this. I thought this was incredibly average. Going to give it a few more listens.

is there a lot of hype around this? i feel like it went by pretty unnoticed and the avg is only 3.6
nothing too mind-blowing

True. I guess there is no sputnik hype but a lot of ppl I know are telling me to give this a listen but I just don't see why anyone likes it. Def don't see this as a 4.5 but c'est la vie.

I can't decide if I want to 3.5 this or 4.0 it. I have it as a "great" 3.5 right now. It's definitely more of a grower album, which I admittedly haven't given many new albums a lot of time if they don't instantly hook me in for the last probably 7 or so years. It's hard to do that in the age of streaming every album ever right from your phone or computer but I keep coming back to play this one every few days.
I think a couple songs could use some more bite in their choruses and "Changing Lanes" and "Right Here", while good songs, are a little bit too one-dimensional for acoustic/slow songs. I like them but don't love them. "Ultraviolet" and "Reason for Breathing" are the two weakest tracks in my opinion (certainly not bad songs, but skippable), so I think it's tough to give it a 4.0 but some of the songs on the album are incredible too.

my relationship with this is basically 3-4 tracks I can't stop listening to and the rest is good but forgettable
probs a 3.5 realistically, yeah

Yeah the 4 didn't stick for me. The opener and close are the best here imo.

Better than their last album but still pretty ehh. First 3 songs stand out as the best and then it’s just kinda consistently OK for the rest of it.

Definitely a step up from Promise Everything imo. A few really nice tracks sprinkled throughout help this find some legs their last release just couldn't with me. I'm sort of interested to see what they offer next, they might have another really good album in them.

Revisiting this and loving it all over again. I definitely undersold it originally.

Never heard of these guys before, but I caught the video for Be Here Now on TV last night and really dug the song
