Similar artists: ‘Meshuggah’ & ‘Depeche Mode’... wtf?

Might check, sounds weird.

Listened to the first 3 songs, and I don't think I am into it. Bummer, it sounded really interesting from reading about it.

"5 IS TOO MUCH"

I thought so too...at first. But the more I listened to the album the more I realised there was nothing I could criticise about it.

Give it a couple of spins. Particularly the title track and whaler.

Meshuggah meets Opeth? Hot damn gotta get on this. Also, album cover is woman from ERRA's Neon? lol

Okay, listening to t/t, definitely hear that retro-meets-modern prog metal sound. Reminds me of Haken/Opeth's Sorceress, initially.

Perhaps more accurately, Meshuggah meets Opeth meets Depeche Mode.

Listening to the whole album now, I can hear the Depeche Mode. This is awesome.

I don't hear either of those. Reminds me of the second Skyharbor album as of now (halfway through) and it's far from being as varied as I hoped. Good stuff nevertheless.

Glad you guys are digging it. I find the rest of the album just as mediocre as the singles. Very tepid about this. Wish I was more into the melodies, which I found vastly superior on their first LP. Alien Shivers is pretty good though.

I get the "Guiding Lights" comparison a little, it's atmospheric/melodic with some djent bits, but definitely not done quite like Skyharbor. My mind went to Sound of Contact and Riverside's "Love, Fear..." as well.

It might be his voice... It's almost too... dreamy sounding or something. Or the keyboards. Something feels out of place.

I dunno, its kind of like everything sounds good individually, but when it all comes together, something is off to me.

Ok, I just got to Ruby Pool and it's really pretty.

How accessible is this? I find it hard to get into most post-metal.

Super accessible. The songs are all straight-forward and the melodies catchy. The only thing that I could imagine throwing some people off would be the djent-y riffs here and there, but those shouldn't be a problem either.
