I think I understand where and what you are trying to say but I'm not convinced you've achieved even a quick skim over this review. Just to clarify on my listening:review practices; I generally listen to an album over the course of a week or two (often with multiple straight through listens during the day - repeated on different sound sources and speakers).
wish you would've explained why in more than a sentence
I did, the comparison between the last album, and the two opus' that you mentioned is the sterilization of sound between records. It's pretty simple actually, they've done better and their past success in no way equals a successful outcome here.
I also understand the rather robotic vocal practices have been used on and off again for the majority of the band's career, but as I explained in the review they in fact helped promote the sterile and lifeless issues I had with the album.
But hey, I'm all for respecting that people may share other opinions and kudos to you for finding an enjoyable listen here. Maybe one day I can read your review for it?

You're still explaining in blanket statements. I'm sure you understand the difference. I mean if we were comparing Opeth's Harvest with Opeth's Watershed, then yes - the departure from album to album IS obvious, but here - I don't think that applies. Obscura have not majorly deviated from their last album, so if you call one excellent and one poor, then I would imagine you could justify that with more than "it's just not as good, or it's more sterile." WHAT MAKES it Sterile compared to the riffing on Akorasis? If it's just "a feeling" you have, than that doesn't make for a good basis of a review. That's just my feedback. You can use it as you will.
They're tech death man, their music grows on you and I have NEVER loved one of their albums the first time through, but I have grown to appreciate elements of them all.

Really?
Steffen will need at least a semester to build a new line-up.

These guys can't keep a consistent line-up if their lives depended on it

It's because Steffen is supposedly difficult to work with.
