@lucman he first couple releases are pretty lackluster in my opinion but everything after Domestica is a 4 or above

I usually start with the first highest rated release then move from there so I'll start with Domestica.

domestica is a seminal record but is not as catchy/immediate as their later albums i would say. like it was definitely a big deal when it came out, but that's not really the kind of music they ever made again.

it's kinda similar in that the band always favored simplicity and directness (and fellas, while Tim Kasher might not be a catch, he can shit-sure write a catchy hook) over idk more technical and flowery aspects, so they're cut from the same cloth. Domestica just sounds less polished and is more emotionally specific.
great band so glad they're riproaring again : " )

To me Domestica sounds like their first two albums if they were good

@widowslaugh- lol pretty much. Just listened to their compilation of demos for the first time and it was actually a lot of fun. Some great gems. Also, noticed The Ugly Organ deluxe edition is missing Burst & Bloom tracks (which makes sense bc it's great as a standalone EP) as well as the track "Nostalgia" which is tacked onto that demo compilation for some reason

Absolutely loving this so far. Can’t believe new mwY and new Cursive dropped at the same time - so much existential angst rn lol

That new mwY is so good but I’ve only stopped jamming this long enough to listen to it all the way through twice

Domestica is a top 5 album all time forever

"Free To Be Or Not To Be You And Me" slaps. The album is the best parts of The Ugly Organ and Domestica, wrapped in the exceptional lyricism of Mama, I'm Swollen.

what a great month for music
|

I heard organ and saw a review for it that said something like "how could we not expect something like this after Domestica?" so I checked it and was like woooAAHHHHH
|
| |
I've been jamming organ more than domestica lately
|
| |
I love cursive! Checking this out today
