Yes, although not that different from the originals from a compositional and instrumental standpoint, especially if you think about some songs on The Unraveling and even the recent "Ash" remake. The growls on "The Deeper Vileness" make it sick, which I expected, considering how well that turned out in the Mode of TMOAB live.

I must be the only one who digs the Obscure remake.
Kyo's vocals are scarily good on it, especially the gutturals.

If Values is just a modern Six Ugly song (which is what I've seen hearing from people) I may love the shit out of it since I love 5 Ugly Kingdom.

DSS and Uroboros are still my favorites but this album is so much fun while having some really emotional and aggressive moments. I really liked Arche too but I missed the heavier side of the band outside of a few songs and there were a few tracks like Sustain the Untruth that I got pretty sick of quickly. I don’t necessarily think this is better than Arche but I have more fun listening to it hence my score. The production, track order, and lack of more longer/proggier songs are my only gripes.

All the best jams are in the second half of the record, mostly.
Cant wait for October to finally see them at their own show!

It translates better live, yes. The studio recording falls flat for me. FWIW, my favorite version of Obscure is on Uroboros Budokan.

Somebody has to say it...I think the remake of Kigan is fucking awful. Just as worse as "The IIID Vestige Of Empire". No energy, no dynamics, and the re-recording comes across as being phoned in to me. Its cardinal sin is burying the bass WAY back. Personally, the bass in the original was the main drive of the song for me and the remake lost that...for me at least.
The Deeper Vileness and Wake on the other hand I think are quite good by comparison. The latter being the best one IMO.

I like all the remakes better than the originals. Just wish they did not change the solo in wake, the original solo was catchier

It bugs me that Kyo’s voice cracks during the growling part in the second verse of Utafumi and at the first growling chorus of The Deeper Vileness. Idk why he wouldn’t do another take.

I took a listen to the Kigan remake again...yeah it’s growing on me (the whole album has really but not ready for a rating bump yet), I’m just bothered by the bass being down in the mix still. Loved the bass on the original. I gotta relisten to the original Wake and the new one back to back to hear that solo you mentioned. As far as remakes are concerned, ZAN and HYDRA -666- are my faves.
