I actually don't really want that. They can't do that sort of heavy material and layering as good again, not to mention Kyo isn't in his prime anymore, no matter how impressive his performance is on the new one.
I'd like more prog from them because, considering the quality of the "Macabre" remake and "Rinkaku", there is so much potential there.
Jens Bogren mixed the three remakes on the bonus disc, but they have the same mastering engineer (haven't heard them yet). Imagine a proggier album fully mixed and mastered by him...

I get why they wouldn't wanna go back to the DSS days tbh, pretty morbid/destructive time for Kyo in particular.
He still sounds as good ever here tbh though, his vocal recording sounds quite raw with hardly any effects plastered on.

He sounded pretty authentic on the finax Utafumi mix, hmm.
There definitely aren't many 'crazy' vocal moments like past records, but like I said before it's a miracle he can even still perform.

He sounds like he's learned proper "safe" compression and air flow control for the screams which is probably a big contributor to his current preservation
Then again, these are studio recordings and not live shows where he has to run through shit like Different Sense for 2 fucking hours. I have enough trouble with fucking Dozing Green on a good day let alone a whole show
