I find them more polished and the quality is excellent.
I really had a hard time diggin their pre-2009 stuff. It all just felt jumbled and none of their songs ever hooked me.

Dang Jack, really? I mean I can understand preferring Duvallice in Chains' work over Tripod, but Dirt and Jar of Flies are as polished as polished can be.

s/t is great. Much better than the last three imo

“Alice in Chains is one of the few bands who made better music after their reunion than before it.“
You’re one of like three people that think that, blasphemer.

To each their own. I definitely have it below BGWTB and maybe tied with TDPDH, even though TDPDH has been growing on me...

The problem with s/t for me is that some of the songs go on too long. Their newer albums are like that as well, but the songs just aren't as engaging as the songs on s/t imo

S/t is neck and neck with Dirt for me.

it has a lot of deep cuts

It has some deep cuts, but overall the album isn't their most focused. BGWTB is way more focused imo. A Looking In View and Private Hell are as strong as anything AiC has ever written and the album is possibly their most razor sharp in terms of songwriting and compositional focus, even if it isn't as daring and adventurous as, say, JoF.

a looking in view is really good. and your decision

A Looking in View might just be their best doom metal song

There are a lot of contenders. Stone and Hollow are jams too.
And Your Decision is great agreed.

No one mentioning their best post Layne track?
Private Hell is one of their best from both eras

Kinda like their previous two?

I think I have all three at a 3.5, but TDPDH is actually my favorite.
