"there is absolutely nothing "cheesy" about any of the lyrics."
I used to be a Journey megafan, and even I can't read that comment with a straight face

Journey are cool
and yes, they're cheesy af and there's nothing wrong with that
|

Tbf, most of Journey's cheesiness is in their more popular songs. But albums like Infinity and Frontiers have strong deep cuts like Edge of the Blade and Winds of March that offer a more serious side of the band
|
| |
And that's not counting their pre-Perry prog era
|
| |
Absolutely. Honestly, I wish there were more albums that merged the band's prog and arena rock elements like Infinity did... definitely led to some cool experiments, especially on songs like Winds of March and Patiently and their deviations from the band's normal songwriting formula

"I wish there were more albums that merged the band's prog and arena rock elements like Infinity"
That's literally Dream, After Dream though
|
| |
That's true, but I was only counting studio albums and not soundtracks - although I guess you could make the case for it still counting as a studio album. But I also wish Steve sang more on that one tbh
Also, I guess Trial by Fire has some strangely proggy tendencies here and there... too bad it all gets bogged down by an avalanche of adult contemporary garbage, lol
