I think the last Revocation album was their weakest largely due to the absence of Phil on drums. The newest Revocation track sounded like Ash has helped recapture some of that eclectic style that Phil meshed with so well, so I'm really hoping he can step it up and help this album be better than the last.

While this is a huge step up from Skeletonwitch's previous albums, I think it kinda just falls in line with the above-average melodeath talents. Doesn't really hold up against old Opeth, Be'lakor, Soilwork, ATG. I'm a bit surprised it's been trending so high admittedly.

A user rated this album a 1.5, thus the average went down today. Pity :[

Edit: Nvm it's a 4/5 again. Whoa.

I honestly hope they stay in this direction, it really does suit them well.

Been jamming this for the past few days. Aside from the whack production, this is top notch stuff. 4 for now, until my ears stop bleeding.

Everything is cranked up to 11. Not a huge deal, but definitely distracting sometimes. The quality of the songs more than makes up for any issues I have with the recording.

oh, right on man, Ballou generally pushes everything he touches pretty hard, and for something like this, I think it works fine. But I get what you're saying

I'm willing to wait it out, it'd be too preemptive for me to do it rn

When Paradise Fades and the title track slay hard. Not sure if this is 5/5-worthy material though, I've been trying to keep up with stuff of this year that I've overlooked the past months. Also new Revocation and a Sodom EP are on the way bois.

Listening to this again rn, although I don't have any problem with the production I understand the criticism towards it. Kinda weird considering that Kurt Ballou also produced their previous album Serpents Unleashed and it didn't sound alot like this... but I'm just nitpicking here.

I've had some time to get quite a few more listens in at this point, and this is an excellent record overall. I think I will bump it up to a 4.5 for now, as I seem to be having trouble taking this out of rotation in the car. Wife loves it too!
