Sunbather actually isn't better. This is much better songwriting and more mature in my opinion. Sunbather has that obnoxious spoken word track as well (the one on this album is handled MUCH better, in my opinion and sounds more emotive rather than forced)

Never listened to them till now. Most of these songs sound like if Switchfoot had a black metal vocalist. And I'm just not sure how I'm ever supposed to be in the mood for that.

Parts of Sunbather are forced, for example, the borderline rip-off GYBE inspired voice samples in the one song.

Honeycomb and Canary Yellow were pretty good tracks I admit, but that is about it to me. I enjoy their heavy segments, but the melodic jam-session sounding portions are a bit stale for my taste.
