Sunbather actually isn't better. This is much better songwriting and more mature in my opinion. Sunbather has that obnoxious spoken word track as well (the one on this album is handled MUCH better, in my opinion and sounds more emotive rather than forced)

Sunbather is on a whole different level and this blows agreed.
And yeah You Without End is their worst song.

Also I don’t get how Sunbather sounds forced??? This album is boring as fuck and is as soft as Drake.

Never listened to them till now. Most of these songs sound like if Switchfoot had a black metal vocalist. And I'm just not sure how I'm ever supposed to be in the mood for that.

Parts of Sunbather are forced, for example, the borderline rip-off GYBE inspired voice samples in the one song.

See I love those parts. Idk that album is flawless to me.

Should I listen to this so I can hate on it or just ignore it altogether like the last one? Hmmm...

This album is phenomenal. Near, Glint, and Honeycomb are all top tier Deafheaven tracks

Honestly, every track here outside of the opener is top-tier. Ugh this is so close to being a 5

Switchfoot with a bm vocalist? Soft as Drake? Did Deafheaven hit the crack pipes ahead of penning these tunes?

"borderline rip-off GYBE inspired voice samples"
that was the guitarist recording the vocalist trying to sell drugs tho, a rather candid moment.

A post-rock band influenced by black metal..

And why is that a bad thing? Their sound is so good

Honeycomb and Canary Yellow were pretty good tracks I admit, but that is about it to me. I enjoy their heavy segments, but the melodic jam-session sounding portions are a bit stale for my taste.
