That's my second favourite track. Def don't see enough love for it 'round these parts. Despite saying Immaterial is my favourite, I've played Is It Cold more, according to last.fm

I'm tempted to call bullshit on this but I want to wait and see if it's one of those albums that suddenly clicks. Seems like faux-experimentation, tons of glitch beats, randomly emphasized words, and overzealous production but very little in the way of songwriting. Immaterial is amazing though.

fuck me i can't be on the same side as SowingSeason, maybe it is a 5 after all
|
| |
Idk i find it ironic that Sowing says that when Immaterial is probably the shallowest track here (in terms songwriting)

Didn't rec to Sowing because I expected that take. I'll say that you should give "Is It Cold" and "Infatuation" individual attention, there's a sophisticated elegance to them that's easy to miss when your brain is zapped from the preceding tracks.

infatuation is definitely the better of the 'slower' tracks... Beautiful stuff.

Yo I understand this isn't your typical rock record @foxblood, but giving this album a 1.0 like its Metal Machine Music...that's super shallow. Frankly, get away from being so religious towards more traditional music and just try explore more. Find some gateways and experiment with some other electronic and computer based music before you go giving this a fucking 1.0

Immaterial is an amazing track with a crazy infectious hook, but agreed with snox. It's definitely the most straightforward song here

ya wtf user foxblood apologize

"Idk i find it ironic that Sowing says that when Immaterial is probably the shallowest track here (in terms songwriting)"
See to me song craft has nothing to do with complexity or depth. A track can use all the tricked out production in the world and be generally complicated as fuck without resembling a song. More than half of this is electronic wankery without direction. Immaterial may be less complicated but as a result it rises to the surface of this convoluted mess as a real, actual tune.
|
| |
It's not a very convoluted or messy album. It's not even necessarily complex. It's just...really interesting.

Also I should stress that I've heard this exactly once. This is merely my first impression and is highly subject to change. Hopefully my second listen will be better.

Keep giving it chances Sowing! I think I found this very easy to digest after hearing Sophie's production work within the context of Big Fish Theory but I could totally see this being a bit much at first as it's definitely more jarring and randomized at times.

| |
it's when they're experimenting but actually it turns out they're counterfit experimentations printed on cheese like wtf i cant use a cheese-based credit card

I believe he's insinuating that Sophie is just glitzing her discordant sound to come off as experimental without actually being anything groundbreaking. Which I'd definitely disagree with.

it doesn't have to break ground to be an experiment anyway

I do think to an extent this album attempted to be groundbreaking though (and quite successfully in my opinion).

experiments require effort tbh

Depends on the experiment...
