Agreed. Here's hoping he considers it as an option now...

It's not Fort Minor at all. It bounces between pop and alternative quite a bit. I'm not a huge fan of the pop moments on here. I hate the vocal melodies he choose during those parts. The more aggressive rap numbers are fine, but the huge bassline in most of them are hit or miss. The main problem is the filler which is why I gave it a 3. I might 3.5 it later on. This is the most difficult album for me to rate.

Proof that art is the perfect catharsis for dealing with difficult times. Even taking the context of Benningtons death, this is a pretty strong album.

I touched on that in my review. It's a strong album even if its not very satisfying.

@RaylanCrowder

As in his actually musical ability on it. People are giving this album praise that I don't remember even Rising Tied getting, and it sounds like his rapping has even gotten worse in the past decade. His ability is worse, his lyrics are worse, his production is worse. This is an enormous step down in every sense from almost everything he has done before.

Barring that, Mike's actually said he does NOT want this to be considered a 'Chester tribute' album, meaning everything sans the lyrics is supposed to be taken as essentially a second Fort Minor album. Ok, well in that case, it's awful. But why are people giving it praise? Because of it's "deep lyrics".

Which are awful on 95% of this.

The problem with Post Traumatic is that it's trying to be something it isn't. The album's job is to prove why Mike Shinoda NEEDS to make this rather than why he *wants* to make it. The album goes out of its way to address Chester's impact on his music, how he overcame the grief, and how he moved past it. Post Traumatic defines this at the bare minimum. The album doesn't carry enough weight to draw a big emotional connection with the music or lyrics. It feels half-baked and uninspired. The rapping is okay at best, but seems like he's trying too hard to craft an edge. Linkin Park was never edgy. Why is Mike Shinoda trying to be? He's trying too hard to be something he isn't. The album is raw in some aspects, but not nearly as much as it should be. It's overall okay, but I don't see the overwhelming praise either. It's a generic alt-rap album.

"Mike's actually said he does NOT want this to be considered a 'Chester tribute' album"

Where's your source for that, if you don't mind me asking? It's just I've read in a few places that it is a tribute to Chester. Maybe it's also just my perception of it, but the lyrics are clearly aimed at everything to do with Chester and his dealing with the situation. It just seems strange he would say it's not a tribute yet have everything based around him.

But I'm in complete agreement, this isn't a patch on FM. However, not that I consider the lyrics deep, the subject matter is raw and genuine. I don't really see how it's bad to say an album is good for its lyrics, it's no different to liking an album for just its instrumentals because you don't dig the vocals and/or lyrics all that much.

The music here is serviceable; it's not bad, it's just not all that great either. But vocally and lyrically I think this is where the album shines.

Bad album. I just can't get into this

Album is all samey and boring. Mike just emphasizes how much he misses Chester, to the point that it becomes annoying.

I thought that after Chester's death he could have gotten some inspiration to make a decent album. I will never go wrong again.

I agree with Gonzo a bit. I can feel the raw emotion, but the music feels uninspired and bland. The vocal delivery flip-flops, but it's alright for the most part. It's more of a 3 in my opinion. 3.5 is a bit high. It has outstanding problems that limit its success.

I saw that Chino Moreno was on a track and I thought ''Oh! Cool'' but then I saw that MGK was also on the song and I just went ''..ugh idk''

The track with Chino and MGK was actually one of the few that didn't bore me on this.

This just sounds like Mike buying into recent trends. Give me Fort Minor instead, this isn't anything like it
