If they ended on this album it'd make sense. When I'm listening to it, it makes me feel like it's their final chapter for some reason I can't place.

It's likely because of the references on Evaporate and their desire to really push the boundaries of experimentation, Laen. They've confirmed that this isn't their last album, but I personally see ArSe as the beginning of DGD's final chapter.
