yknow i kinda figured that based on what we know now that reviews of their shit would like reflect on how what we know now has an impact on the music, because it totally fucking does

this is an album entirely about how jesse thinks hes a piece of shit, and now we know that hes not overexaggerating

"this is an album entirely about how jesse thinks hes a piece of shit"

Not really "entirely", as "Handcuffs" is more of a sociopolitical critique rather than a self-introspective track like most of the other tracks, just in my opinion though.

"I'm really pleased this has another much needed 5/5 review."

Try not to offend you but why are you so enthusiastic about it even you just gave 2/5? I hope this is just your sarcasm.

Oh, and just in case you didn't notice, this is a part of an Emo classics series, and this is the fourth one. You can check out my three previous reviews if you like. (I already mentioned it in the first comment, and it seems like no one gives a bother about it, so I write it here just for a reminder anyway.)

Review is a little too long but it was a good read anyhow. Enjoying these emo classics reviews, man, keep em up.

"I would just like to let everyone know, even though i reviewed this Burzum album, i am strongly against murder and church burnings. Furthermore, i would like to apologize to Euronymous and the congregations of churches destroyed by arson."

"God be my witness, I must clarify, whilst I hold the art of Carlo Gesualdo in utmost esteem, it would be most bedeviling should I have murdered my adulterous wife and her scoundrel of a lover. Pray-tell, were such a predicament to befall me, I perish the thought of retiring to my study to indulge in spiced wine, lest I find myself once more at the scene, disemboweling their cadavers to merely ensure their demises"

i think it's a bit more complicated than that though - if you engage with some sort of media that's made my someone who did bad shit, aren't you supporting the person?

I feel weird watching Roman Polanski movies anyway despite the fact they're pretty good.

Not that you should be apologising for someone else's crimes for even slightly consuming their media though that's dumb

John Lennon was a charlatan who beat his wife and David Bowie slept with 13 year-olds but millions still mourned their passing and enjoy their music to this day. It's not a matter of complicity or "support", so long as you aren't defending their actions.

|I think it's just a personal thing right? Everyone has like a limit of what the person's done where they feel uncomfortable engaging with a person's creative output.

Eg I feel nasty listening to anything by Enabler or Gaza but occasionally am okay with some Brand New or Moose Blood.

While most people refuse to listen to Lost Prophets cos they've drawn the line before that.

Just up to the person i guess !

I guess so, but all this started 'cause someone felt the need to apologise for their tastes, which I don't think is necessary. If a band's lyrics have some basis in reality and pertain to some dubious shit, I can personally understand why someone would be put off by that.

What happened with Gaza?

Yeah definitely man

Erm the vocalist came under some pretty solid allegations of rape and being a general piece of shit- and the rest of the band bailed and formed Cult Leader

lol @ anyone who goes back and changes their album ratings bcuz they mad about the singer's shitty actions from 15 years ago.

Just keep listening to David Bowie and MJ and tell yourself everything is okay.
