@Clavier: dunno mate, The Dusk In us was pretty alright, and comparing any band to converge seems a pretty big selling point to me, i just think its funny to dismiss them cause of that when they were cookie-cutter Trap-Them-core already

This band has way more in common with his hero is gone and trap them tbh. It would probably benefit them to go to someone other than Kurt even though his production is great because no matter who Kurt records they’re going to get compared to converge on aesthetic alone. But honestly I can say this crushes the last Converge record and I say that as a person who generally regards converge as my favorite band. Like don’t get me wrong I absolutely *get* the Converge comparison in guitar tone/riff department but there’s so much more of a dbeat background here that converge doesn’t generally have.

There are certainly a lot of possible comparisons, but whichever one I go for, it just seems that I'd prefer the band being compared to this one

I get that, but you don’t listen to two bands that sound similar ever? You don’t explore a genre and find two bands who have similar nuances here and there and find enough to like about them both to actively listen to both? Maybe it’s just im coming from a drummer background and no one is quite killing it like Nick is right now in heavy music. He’s a little more subdued on this record but he picks his moments better instead of just going nuts the whole time. The one thing I will say I was bummed about was the lack of ‘holy shit’ moments that is THE riff in Bullets off bushcraft. But everything is so strong that it didn’t bother me too much.

Of course I've enjoyed two similar bands, but these guys just aren't different enough for me to earn their own niche. I do really like the drumming, just wish more was going on

"there’s so much more of a dbeat background here that converge doesn’t generally have."

Dan pretty much nailed it with this, I also agree that their sound might "suffer" a bit from being produced for Kurt Ballou but what are you gonna do, the man is a fucking legend, not working with him would be insane.

Sounds like this beats out Dusk In Us for a couple of people. So I really need to listen to this then huh?

Five tracks in and this doesn't really sound like converge. Definitely closer to trap them. Not really my jam.

Wish I enjoyed this more but I need some melodic breaks and shit.

I know comparing them to a textbook tragedy is stupid but I can’t help it.

Drummer owns. This doesn't seem like something I would love, so I doubt I will check it out. Who knows.

You got me wanting to jam A Partial Dialogue Between Ghost and Priest though, Spec.

I literally never listened to that band are they just run of the mill melodic metalcore with outrageous drumming that has a nostalgia factor for you guys?
