Lauren’s response to criticism is stupid but honesty I kinda like this album, there are a handful of bad songs for sure and a lot of the choruses are repetitive but it’s a decently enjoyable listen. It does the "pop echo vocal" thing too much though.

There are some catchy melodies and moments on this record, they've always been a pop sentric band, but their first record had some weight behind it in terms of musicianship and composition, it had an edge, had life behind it, the backing music on this has just become completely sterile and lifeless.

Agree with Boney, this is listenable and insubstantial in equal measure.

Lauren's vocals, melodies and occasionally lyrics have always been the main draw of this band for me and in that respect I don't feel this is drastically weaker than the first two. The difference is that those both had a couple massive bangers whereas this is missing those and has a few tracks on the weak end instead. But, at least after two listens, I'd argue that the best 75% of this is as good as the worst 75% of the first two albums, so overall it's not that much worse.

I can't really enjoy the Smiths anymore with Morrissey being a twat, so I'm not going to spin these guys anymore.

i'm not sure some insane militant vegan nationalist is a fair comparison to someone who just can't take criticism but sure

they're both annoying, it's not the first time lauren says some petty stuff either
but morrisey is way more annoying, no contest

i'm sure she'll get a kick out of it

I think she's the worst part of this band

the usual bitching because someone wrote a review of the album
beside that, there's that one time she got into a fit because a fan said "marry me"

Miracle and Never Say Die are the most disappointing songs on the record (and probably indicative of the record as a whole) because the verses start out great then we're hit by some awful chorus that's either derivative in the case of the former or overly repetitive in the case of the latter.
Either way, sucks that they had good ideas and couldn't carry them through except on a couple songs.

i'm trying to pin down why I like this so much less than their previous 2. probably some mixture of worse lyrics, worse production, songs stuck at one volume and a bunch of really flat choruses

I laugh in my chair thinking about some Guy who is uptight enough to actually get annoyed just because I wrote "Whoren Gayberry".
And I'm not even in a chair.
