This is absolutely more intense than I Shall Die Here.
But seriously, y'all. I adore the band, and I don't think it's at all wrong if someone hates the vox. If they were easy to listen to and everyone's cup of tea they wouldn't be able to be as extreme as they are. The fun of music is how varied it is and how different people react to it.

I saw them open for alcest in philadelphia. me and my girlfriend were clearly the only ones there who knew who they were. people were standing there horrified with their hands over their ears.
can’t wait i see them again with lingua ignota in brooklyn (seeing amenra twice that same week... I might die).
speaking of amenra, I think colin and chip both have vocal styles that can be offputting to even the biggest fan of extreme music. can’t fault someone for at least giving to a chance. I love them though, all the waters of the earth turn to blood is my favorite the body album if you guys haven’t checked that one. more guitar based than electronics

hahaha no way, that’s funny. that show was great, except for that deafheaven side project. that might’ve been the most boring thing i’ve ever seen

Yeah, for real. They were lame as fuck. Was my first time seeing Alcest though and that was a 5/5 performance.

Very interesting stuff, what’s with the shrieks though?
They sort of ruin the album’s atmosphere.

Chip's vox are a signature of the band. I admit they're REALLY out there, and if you've never listened much to them it can take a while before they kinda "click" for you.
Like, I personally wouldn't want them to change a whit, but I absolutely get why you might not be able to jibe with them. One song that might help is "Empty Hearth" from their debut All The Waters of Earth Turn to Blood. It's a really weird track but I think it all fits together well.

empty hearth is one of if not my favorite song by them. that whole album is captivating

Empty Hearth is 100% the song that made the music work for me. I'd heard so much about them but it was like things just didn't fall into place. Then that ungodly combination of chants, thunderous drums, and Chip's howls just made everything mesh.
