Mythodea you definitely gotta check Son Lux. It's not the most consistent album but when it's on, it's ON. Dream State is my SOTY frontrunner.
I'd give All the Luck in the World (indie folk) a shot too.

Enjoying this so far, it seems to grow better on subsequent listens, it's not as immediately accessible as Arktis. As someone else said, the drum sound is really disappointing though. It's all punch and no body.

A mixed results seems to be happening again here

There has always been a muffled aspect to his music that just holds the metal sections back from being very intense to me, I don't know if its a production thing or what. I find myself enjoying the melodic moments but really not being engaged in the metal.

The album has some of the best music he's ever written, in my opinion. The opener is an absolute killer.

Arktis. has a more down to earth vibe but it's also very interesting. Mass Darkness is always a cool jam.

That’s a decent score : ]

This one's decent but definitely not his best. I like his more proggy stuff but I think he does better when he integrates a little more metal into his music

Great review!
The album is awesome,the vocal arrangements,the “horror” synths,the 808 sounding drum...ihsahn is a genius.
Bettern than Arkts. imho.

I also like it much more than Arktis, imo Arktis lost it's appeal very quickly. I think many people don't like the softer more catchy approach in some songs. "Alone" is fucking awesome.

I feel like between this and Arktis he's starting to find a bit of a comfort zone and hit a plateau compared to his previous material. it's still fairly progressive and experimental, but there's fewer risks and more predictability than his forward-thinking and off-the-wall albums like After and Das Seelenbrechen.
still a solid release but I'm currently floating somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for it and that's a little low by Ihsahn standards.

Big step down for Ihsahn. Last album was way better. This is his second worst solo album after Das Seelenbrechen.
