double post but this is pretty damn sweet.
"Aibohphobia" reminds me of The Kinks or The Byrds slightly more psychedelic stuff

I up'd my rating, I really am getting a connection to this album... And to think I thought this album to me was average at best when I first listened to it.

Dewi, check Counting Sheep, Dining Alone, and Big Bad Wolf. They're the obvious 3 highlights.
|

Gotcha, yeah I am trying to find my way into it. Love, love, love the cover and since it got high praise here I might be missing something.

Still my AOTY so far thanks to Sowing. I have heard that people who really digged his previous work aren't as into this album. Maybe a big transition in sound?

It's a transition from folksier/bluegrass to more of an alternative rock approach. I can see why long time fans didn't like the change, but honestly this album is the only reason that I'm a Shakey Graves fan now.

I liked his older stuff by this is better

This is probably more of a 4, but fuck me, I'm such a mark for Shakey. Counting Sheep, Kids These Days, and Dining Alone are all single worthy (the second already is). Am I going mad or does Cops and Robbers' chorus have a tinge of early Strokes sound to it!? I can practically hear Julian's young drunken rasp in that :D
