They've gone downhill ever since they lost Jasin Todd.

Album Rating: 3.0
THE ENTRANCE / DEVIL - 3.8/5 (lyrics aren't perfect but song is a jam)
BLACK SOUL - 3.1/5 (pretty good ballad)
ATTENTION ATTENTION - 3.2/5 (has some BMTH production ripoff moments)
KILL YOUR CONSCIENCE - 3.4/5 (opening line still sux tho)
PYRO - 1.7/5 (oh goodness no)
MONSTERS - 2.7/5 (lyrics are rough)
DARKSIDE - 3.8/5 (interesting structure, good song)
CREATURES - 3.2/5 (one of the better ballads)
EVOLVE - 3.4/5 (intro rips off Nothing More-If I Were God, which is perfect song, this isn't)
GET UP - 1.9/5 (rips off Linkin Park-Battle Symphony, which was a much better song)
SPECIAL - 2.5/5 (interesting lyrics)
THE HUMAN RADIO - 3.3/5 (okay this one is actually a pretty good harder one, rips off Starset-My Demons in the bridge/chorus anthem thing tho)
BRILLIANT - 3.9/5 (yeah this one is pretty nice and fun, a real Shinedown song if there is one on here)
Overall, the album feels much less like a "Shinedown" album. It feels like they got a label songwriter to come in and help them write rather than everything coming organically. Still a decent effort but not that great to me.

It really doesn't feel like a Shinedown album. I agree with that 100%. I can see where the studio interference would come in, but the overall presentation of the album forces that mass-production-esque quality.

Me too. Not a top 3 shinedown album, but a good one.

I don't know. The texture of it doesn't quite mesh with a general Shinedown ideology, but the goal was to be modern and innovative, so that's kinda expected. I just don't get that traditional Shinedown vibe from it.

It's more 50/50 for me I guess. It's still their sound and writing for the most part but it seems like they're looking more at the success of other bands for inspiration rather than what they want to do themselves more so now than in the past. I put this just below Us and Them which had better highlights but more frequent low moments.

It's a generally off-beat album. It doesn't feel right at times. Even though it's modernized and sort-of a spin-off of popular rock sounds, it doesn't quite give Shinedown any momentum heading into the scene. Even for Shinedown standards, the album doesn't represent them that well. I do enjoy the bigger emphasis on music. Guitar, bass, and drums had more of a presence. The songs were riff heavy, which is always a good thing. It just didn't have anything substantial to me as a listener. I can slightly see the appeal thanks to you guys' comments and reviews, but to me, it just doesn't fit.

Just bumped this up. This has grown on me hard the past few days, its super infectious and they pull off this sound so well. Its everything Threat To Survival failed to be and more. Honestly this might be their 3rd best for me. Attention Attention, Creatures, and Brilliant are definitely some of the highlights and I think Brilliant might be the best closer they've ever done, it's right on par with Through The Ghost and Call Me, just on a different spectrum. I also love how manic this sounds at times, whether it be when Brent changes his voice and tempo, to the weird scattered piano they have at a few points throughout the album. I listened to every one of their albums today and I think my ranking would go as:
Leave A Whisper -> Sound Of Madness -> Attention Attention/Us And Them (hard to choose now) -> Amaryllis -> Threat To Survival.

Us and Them over Attention Attention for sure. That album did more for them than Attention Attention will.

I don't think Threat To Survival is all that bad. I think the first 8 tracks are pretty solid and Cut The Cord and Oblivion are huge highlights.
