I think this and Time Will Die... are pretty similar in a lot of regards, but different enough how they execute their eventually sonic output. This feels more raw and stripped back at times, while Rolo Tomassi have a lot more of an aggressive presentation--very pretty and expressive, but with more elements in play.

Time Will Die is in a different league than this imo

I will place that above this to be sure, Time Will Die... is a work that has been developed to for around a decade and is essentially a modern -core classic already. These guys are at a 4.5 for me, but I don't think they've quite reached the extent of their personal sound yet. They could use another album or two to really center it.

Honestly I like this a bit more, but this is much more so in my taste

I'm still not quite comfortable rating this yet but I'd say I'm probably sitting at a soft 4 right now. Time Will Die was an insta5 tbh

Im happy that with this album I don't think we'll be hearing "British dillinger escape plan with weaker instrumentation" anymore

Is there a guest vocalist on the closer? Seems like it
|

Good music, but I'm kinda not digging the main vocals that much

@Fear I think so? It sounds different for sure

The clean vocals kinda irk me. Reminds of that nasal sounding bastard in Dillinger

I dig his vocals a lot, lots of charm to them. Although I can see why people wouldn't dig them

The vocals make this for me.
