Album Rating: 3.0
It's very similar to Haven, but they're losing a bit of immediacy with every album. I didn't hear anything as catchy as "Sacrimony" or even "Insomnia." Of course Tommy's singing is always a treat. Back when I was critiquing Silverthorn, I liked many of the songs but was disappointed Tommy tried to sound like Roy. It's still the same name of the game unfortunately. I do get to hear some of that old Seventh Wonder-sounding Tommy here and there, like in "Vespertine."
The songs are both not as immediate and lack that occassional progressive edge they used to have. Haven and this album sound symphonic with electronic flurishes, and sometimes more aggressive, but not as progressive or visionary as before. Probably since they lack cohesive concepts. Black Halo had stuff like "Momento Mori" and even Silverthorn had "Prodigal", which is where Kamelot really shine in my opinion.
