i think my main problem with this album is the wild songwriting that really could use some trimming in a lot of places, the flow isnt very good.
etiolation is another good track here

Yeah the flow is kind of bumpy, but the beautiful parts are so beautiful
First song is best though, agreed

WEIRD. I can't believe this band flew under my radar for so long. Or, I guess I know why. But I have literally never heard of them until last night.
Saw brief mention on a metal YT channel. Cringed a bit at a snippet of a music video that was played, but I didn't want that to sway my judgement, so I found this album on Spotify and gave it a whirl, but I did skip around a bit in the middle section as I was nearly passed-out.
Very different sound. What I appreciate most is the plodding, bittersweet doom atmosphere that coalesces every now and then. Like the harsh vox too. Great musicians.
Agreed that the songs meander a bit. But it matters a bit less when their vocalist is so talented.
And to be honest, I don't know why, I've never been able to get into female vocals in any harsher sound. Maybe with the exception of Entheos, because you'd never know. My brain associates it with theatrical ultra-cheesy metal. That's probably unfair.
So there was an adjustment period here, but it was worth it. I could definitely see this one being a grower despite its inconsistencies and bloated runtime. Definitely giving this one a few more listens.
I can say I adore the title track though, right off the bat.
Good review too

I like her voice against the doomy riffs, I dunno

Agreed, her voice is a nice counterpoint to the instrumentals
@nomos2, “I’ve never been able to get into female vocals in any harsher sound...”, you should really check out Jinjer then. Fantastic vocalist.

I lied -- I can do an Azusa and Rolo Tomassi. But when it comes to structured technical "metal"-metal, it's always sounded off to me.
But I will give Jinjer a shot, thanks!

Great effort. Gloomy and dark but yet dynamic.

Opener is quite nice.

Album has a handful of interesting songs. If I had to choose its weakest link it would be the male growls that hop every now and then. I'm looking forward to the new album.

A little more cohesive than this, but wildly less interesting. Somehow still a 4/5 though

The last one has a cover of Type O negative's "Wolf Moon".

Hold me...

Couple songs into the new one and it's pretty solid. The female vocals are so damn good
